Weekly in Class Blog Assignment

Top 3 favorite websites analyzation

1) Youtube.com- Youtube contains a good basic basic web layout.  The design of the site is also well thought out. it contains well placed images and text, also they are easy to find. It has one main form which lets you find everything and also more forms if you want to make an account. Youtube is known for its movies so no comment there. Youtube doesnt have much interacactivity so that would be a good change. For example when you put your mouse over a video it shows scenes of the video.

2) NBA.com- NBA.com also has a well thought out page layout but it is a little to small. There are alot of links leading you to other articles and videos. It doesnt have many forms that I know of so a quick fix there.
It does contain movies or videos and they are of good quality to. NBA.com does not have alot of interactivity and I would do the same thing that I did to youtube.

3) 9Gag.com- I personaly do not like 9gags opening page. I dont know where to start with modifying the site, maybe make it a little more colorful. It doesnt have any links that i know of but they are not particularly needed. It has plenty of pictures and text which is a plas but has almost no interactivity which i do not like. It does not have interativity, only to sign up so that you can comment on peoples pictures. but as far as I know that is it.

Weekly Blog Assignment

Comment on the issue of monetizing in the Social Network. What is your opinion? Why is Facebook so successful?

Comment on monetizing in the social network While  monetizing your website there are two options: 1) Wait until your website is relatively popular and then add advertisements to make some money of your website. 2) Immediately put advertisements on your website to start making money almost immediately.

What is your opinion? I think the first option is the better choice since you tend to make more money of of it as long as your website is popular. The second option lets you make money almost immediately but tends to be "not cool" with internet users since it would just be another website with advertisements.

Why is Facebook so popular? Facebook is popular because of its simple user friendly interface. Also its a way to connect with people you have lost contact with. It is a great free way to contact all of your friends free unlike a phone which can be costly. It keeps you updated on all the new things happening in the world. And finally because of all of the features it provides to the user such as "Liking" someones pictures and commenting on them; relationship status; "Poking" etc.

Homework Questions.

Why is it important to learn HTML when designing websites?

It is important because you can make your website look interesting and attract customers. Without HTML your websites will look very bland and boring. Thats why most of the famous websites hire HTML experts to design their websites. That doesnt mean that HTMl is easy it is extremely hard especially on higher levels.

Weekly Blog

How often do you use the Internet, and what for?

I use the Internet probably about 1 and a half to 2 hours a day. I would like to use it more but with school, homework, and a dog to take care of  it is pretty hard to get on. Also my brother just got this game called minecraft and hes been playing non-stop so that doesn't help either. So when i actually do get onto the computer i try to make up for what little time i have. I check youtube for any new videos roaming the web and also NBA.com to see if any new trades are going on. Also i try to listen to music that i dont have on my phone or have heard on the radio.

Homework Questions.

How has copyright law benefited society?

I don't think it really has affected society that much. It has still slowed down copyrighted information but there is still lots of websites around the world that provide copyrighted material. On the other hand if there was no copyright law actors, singers, and other people in the showbiz wouldn't get any money and in turn would quit. If these people quit then society would be very bland and boring. So in a way copyright law has affected society in a good way. You could look at it both ways.

What would you change about copyright law, given the rapid growth of the Internet?

I would  probably make the copyrighted law a little stricter so that singers and actors can get a little more money and not quit. To be honest I see a majority of singers especially, quiting there jobs due to all the copyright infringement going on.
